Book Review: The Jerusalem Secret

The Jerusalem Secret, by Ron Cantor, is the second book in the Identity Theft Series. This historical fiction focuses on Judaism while encompassing the difficult topics of abuse and crucifixion.

David Lebowitz is a Messianic Jew who is educating his family on his faith. David time travels, with the aid of Ariel, to the times of the New Testament.

This is the type of book that I truly enjoy. It involves history and fantasy to tell its story. Plus it includes background of the Church throughout.

I feel like anyone that enjoys the type of books I mentioned would also enjoy this book.

Book Review: Silent Takeover

Silent Takeover, by Jacquelyn Sheppard, was a very interesting read. Through my life I have been around smokers, and I always wondered if this is set in our minds to follow them or not. This book helps to answer these questions.

It also talks about emotional and mental health issues, which many face. I feel it is a useful book for most of us, even if we aren’t affected directly, we may know someone dealing with these issues. It also tells ways that we can help deal with these issues, such as changing diets. Prayer us also a useful tool to help deal with these items.

Such a useful book.

Book Review: Lead Me Home

Lead Me Home by Amy K. Sorrells, tells the story of a young man, Noble, whose family was abandoned by the father. This left him to take care of the farm and his family, dashing his dreams of finding a home away from here where he can look into following his dreams of music.

Pastor James Horton has also had to face tough decisions, He lost his wife to an accident which also caused changes in his daughter. She no longer sings or socializes with her old friends. Instead she is running around with others that he would prefer she did not.

I loved this book. I felt like I was in the story lines as they were unfolding before me. The struggles that all had were easy to understand. The author took the time to make sure the characters and settings were realistic.

I highly recommend this book.

Book Review: Faith by Lyn Cote

Faith, by Lyn Cote, is part of the series Quaker Brides. It is set during the Civil War, Faith Cathwell is a nurse on the battlefield. She also decides to take part in the abolition fight.

She also is using this time to look for a child who was kidnapped and sold as a slave. Faith asks Colonel Devlin Knight to help in the search. He agrees and, as they head east with Grant’s army a romance begins to grow between them. This leads to many conflicts within themselves.

I found this book to be well researched and very well written. I did not read the first book in the series, but I did not feel lost at all.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading Historical Christian Fiction. I was given this book by The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.

Book Review: Doctor Dog

Doctor Dog is filled with heart-warming and heart melting stories. M.R. Wells was able to draw from different sources of ways that dogs have been shown to help others, even as those others were caring for them. She was also able to share the relationship between each of these stories and the love of God.

Each of these stories touched me in different ways and I commend the author on the work and the love that she was able to share through this book. I would recommend this book to any of my friends and family members who are lovers of dogs.

Book Review: Taste

This book mixes food and romance to create a lovely creation.

Taste tells the story of Kara Malendar, a student at Le Cordon Bleu. Suddenly she is called home where she becomes a food critic.

Logan Rye is a chef at his own restaurant. One that is reviewed. This is the story of their struggles to find each other and their romance.

The author places such a nice spin on this book. She creates characters who are easy to like and her descriptions throughout the book places the reader in her book.

Book Review: Crochet Mandalas

I love this book. It is filled with easy to follow designs which can be completed by beginner crocheters. Yet they are so beautiful that even the most expert will want to give them a try. Some of the patterns included are a bowl cover, dream catcher, gold cushion,hook case, vest, rug and so much more.

 

I recommend this to all of my crafty readers. It is wonderful.
